The Steelers Foundation is committed to helping raise money for various charities through rugby related initiatives and was established in 2005 to help the Jonny Mitchell Appeal raising over £12,000 in 2005 and 2006.

The appeal's Official Charity is now Maggie's Centres and The Steelers are supporting the charity build a new centre in Aberdeen.

Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres and The Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation are involved in a fundraising campaign to raise £3 million to bring a Maggie's Centres to Foresterhill Hospital, Aberdeen for people affected by cancer across Grampian.

Maggie's Centres are remarkable places where people with cancer, their family and friends can receive the emotional and psychological support that they need. Life at Maggie's revolves around the kitchen table and people can drop by, have a cup of tea and chat with others in similar situations. It can often be a huge relief to realise that you are not alone with your worst fears. Visitors to Maggie's can speak to a Cancer Support Specialist, take part in a group such as Relaxation, or simply pause and rest.

Professional emotional and psychological support can change the way people live with cancer. Maggie's work together with people to help them overcome the isolation and despair caused by a cancer diagnosis.

At Maggie's people have the time and space that they need. People can be themselves. There is no need for a referral or appointment and people can come along whenever they feel like it and can spend as much time as they need.
